New Project on "Beliefs, Knowledge & Attitudes related to Breast Cancer among Young Cypriot and Egyptian Women"

RUBSI has recently won through the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation, a Bilateral Cooperation Research Project with the title “Beliefs and practices related to Breast Cancer among a sample of young Cypriot and Egyptian women”. The project is financed within the framework of the bilateral cooperation protocol in Research and Development between Cyprus and Egypt. It will be coordinated by Dr Wasileh Petro-Nustas, Professor, Director of Nursing Research, University of Nicosia.

The main objective of the research study is to utilize the modified version of Champion’s Health Belief Model Scale (modified by Mikhail and Petro-Nustas, 2001) in order to assess women’s beliefs and practices related to breast cancer and Breast Self-Examination (BSE).The project is expected to last 3 years. The results of the research will be used in order to plan related health education and promotion activities to encourage BSE as an easy, cheap and effective way for detecting breast lumps.
